Carrie Simmons Morgan Obituary


Carrie S. Morgan was born March 18, 1951 to Joseph and Roslie Pope Simmons and was reared by her grandmother the late Carrie Simmons.
At the age of twelve she accepted the Lord as her personal Savior and joined the Ebenezer Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Fluellen. She later joined the usher board under the leadership of Pastor Lenard Ritter, Sr.  And worked faithfully with I Major president of the usher ministry. She received her education in the public-school system of Beaufort County graduating from St. Helena High School in 1969.
In 1976, Carrie married her high school sweetheart, Thomas Morgan, Jr. Carrie was employed in the sewing industry for many years. She later pursed her career in nursing at Bayview Nursing Home in Beaufort, SC. She worked in nursing for over 40 years. She also  worked with Disability and Special Needs Center in Port Royal, SC until her heath failed.
Family values were very important to her because she strived very hard to keep the family together. In addition to spending time with family and friends Carrie loved to entertain and travel. She love read, play cards, and Pokeno. The only thing rivaled her love for cooking was her love for fashion and beautiful things. She was an avid sport fan with a special love for softball and football.
On Monday, August 26, 2019 at Beaufort Memorial Hospital, Carrie was called home to be with the Lord. She was preceded in death by her parents, grandmother, Carrie G. Simmons; sisters, Geraldine S. Green, Naomi Simmons Thomas; uncles and aunts. Carrie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend. She was always taking care of others and putting her needs last a heart of gold she had. She will be missed by those who knew and loved her.
She leaves to cherish her memories: her husband of 43 year, Thomas Morgan, Jr.; her devoted sons and their wives, Terrell D. Morgan his wife, Shawnita G. Morgan, Thomas Morgan, III and his wife,  Farnea  Morgan; her dearest grandchildren, Sean Brown, JoRon Miller, Ta’Leah Morgan, Armani  Mattis, Ta’Nyiah , La’Neyah Morgan and Lander Morgan; great grandchildren, Sean Brown, Jr., Shamari Brown and Sariyah Brown; her siblings, Joseph (Patricia) Simmons, Jr. of New Jersey, Theresa (Nathaniel) Gadsen of Delaware, Daisy (Solomon) Singleton of Port Royal, SC, Mary (Charles) Gardner of Warsaw Island, Benjamin Simmons, Lydia Simmons, Freddie Simmons and Karen Cage; Like a Father Mr. Frank Simmons; sisters in law, Helen Coleman. Geneva (Curtis) Rouse, Ella Gardner, Brenda Morgan, Dawn Morgan and Barbara Jean (Harry) Hunter; special nieces and nephews, “I love you’ll… I won’t complain (smile)”; special friends, Betty Pollock, Ann Given and Rodney, Evelyn Washington, Albertha Moultrie, Julius Pringle, James Green, Pamela Green, Vera Holmes, Nellie M. Howard, Ann Singleton, Clarithea Singleton, “I love you’ll”; my special aunt, Mary Hamilton; uncle and aunt, James and Julie  Bradley; Aunt Glady’s Pope “I love you”, Jo’Ann Barnwell, “You have a special place in my Heart, Love you”
