Clayton Millidge known to his family and friends as “Poke” was born September 15, 1954 the son of the late Deacon Willman Heyward and Lucille Milledge Heyward. He entered into eternal rest on October 29, 2018, at Beaufort Memorial Hospital.
Clayton received his education in the Public school of Beaufort County, after graduation he attended Job Corp. He later entered Military Service (Active Army) December 1, 1975 and was honorable separated November 29, 1978
He accepted Christ as his personal savior, was baptized and became a member of the Faithful Christian Church. He was the father of one daughter.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Samuel Lee Griffin and a sister Verline D. Griffin.
Those left to celebrate and cherish his loving memory include his devoted wife, Mildred “Moochie” Millidge; a daughter, Stephania Evans of Huston, TX; one step son, Douglas Greene (Carolyn) of St. Helena Island, SC and a granddaughter he raised, Antoinette Jenkins (Christopher) of Beaufort, SC; one brother, Marshall Heyward of Beaufort, SC; two sisters, Faye Jackson (Tommy) of Columbia, SC and Mollie Heyward of Beaufort, SC; one uncle, John Wesley Milledge (Mary) of St. Helena Island, SC; three aunts, Albertha Lewis, Nadine Hills and Nora Milledge all of Beaufort, SC; five grandchildren; six great grandchildren; brother in law, Joe (Wilhelmina) Pope of St. Helena Island, SC; three special friend, Jake Johnson, Al Hall, Joe “Jackie” Milledge and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends.
