Edward Lee "Cowboy" Bryan, Sr. Obituary


Edward Lee Bryan, Sr., son of the late Annie Mitchell Bryan and William Bryan, Sr., was born August 3, 1942 on St. Helena Island, SC. “Cowboy” as he was affectionately called graduated from St. Helena High School, class of 1961. He was baptized in his youth and became a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church. 
Edward’s trade of choice was carpentry. He took pride in his work and did a lot of additions for family and friends. Edward continued to work in his trade until his health failed. Even then he would still take on small jobs just to keep active. He also loved to grow crops and raise hogs, cows, and chickens. You could always find him in the yard hammering on something or in the field planting/harvesting crops. He loved his sports. He was an avid baseball and wrestling fan. If it was on tv, he would be watching. 
Edward was married to Mary Louise Frazier-Bryan for 44 years until her untimely death in 2017. He enjoyed his children and grandchildren. They were the apple of his eye. 
Edward Bryan entered into everlasting sleep Tuesday, October 15, 2019, at Beaufort Memorial Hospital. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by: his wife, Mary Louise Frazier-Bryan; daughters, Felicia Ralph and Deidre Greene, and a brother, Charles Bryan, Sr. 
Those left to cherish his memories include his daughters, Kimberly Bryan of Stamford, Ct., Latoya (William) Frazier of Beaufort, SC, and Inessa Bryan of St. Helena Island, SC; his sons, Edward Bryan, Jr. of Stamford Ct. and Brandon Legree of Raleigh, N.C.; ten grandchildren and six great grandchildren; brothers, William (Evelena) Bryan, Albon (Jeannettea) Bryan, and Alonzo Brown all of St. Helena Island, SC; sisters, Lena Perry, Eleanor Bryan, Sharon (Franklin) Gardner, Earnestine Bryan, Sandra (Henry) Pope, and Cynthia Bryan all of St. Helena Island, SC; uncle, Freddie Bryan of Mt. Pleasant, SC; aunt, Johnnie Mae Gaymon of Summerton, SC.; brothers in law, Robert (Youlanda) Frazier of Valdosta, GA, John (Beatrice) Miles of Haughton LA, William (Febra) Miles, Ernest (Jackie) Frazier, Kenny Miles of Fayetteville, NC., Alonzo (Sheila) Singleton of Kirkland, WA., Bernard (Vanessa) Singleton of Denton, WA., Bruce Singleton of Seattle, WA., and Terrance Singleton of St. Helena Island; sisters in law, Burnette Bryan, Fredrica (Walter) Singleton, Richardene Aiken, Ella Mae (Phillip) Mitchell, Stacy Singleton, and Yvonne Singleton of St. Helena Island and Barbara Johnson of Savannah, Ga., Alice McDonald of Fayetteville, NC; special friends; Clifton Major, Bobby Brisbane, Joe Freeman, Sr., Clifford Byas and his church deacon, JoCephus Murray ; a host of loving nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. A special thank you to Letitia Washington, Danika Williams, and Catherine Oree for the great care you all provided to our loved one.


Edward Lee "Cowboy" Bryan, 77, of St. Helena Island, SC. died Tuesday, October 15, 2019 at Beaufort Memorial Hospital in Beaufort, SC. Visitation will be held from 5-7 Sunday, October 20, 2019 at Allen Funeral Home Chapel in Beaufort, SC. Funeral services will be held 11 am Monday, October 21, 2019 at Ebenezer Baptist Church on St. Helena Island, SC. Allen Funeral Home of Beaufort in charge.
