Harry "Donnie" Sumter

Harry Donald Sumter was born on July 22, 1946 in Walterboro, South Carolina. He was the son of the late Mr. Morris Williams and the late Queen Esther Meminger of Manhattan, New York and the stepson of Mr. Dean Meminger Sr of Manhattan, New York. 
He was educated in the Colleton County School District and graduated from Colleton High School in 1963. He worked at Food Max in Beaufort, SC before becoming disabled.
He was a devout Catholic and attended the Catholic Church. On November 7, 1966 he was united in holy matrimony to Etta Mae George. From this union two daughters were born.
Harry departed this life on Friday, October 18, 2019, at Riverside Health and Rehabilitation in North Charleston, SC. He was preceded in death by his beloved grandmother, Senie Sumter of Walterboro, SC; brother, Dean Meminger Jr. of Manhattan, New York two ex brothers in law, Ernest George (Kate) of Walterboro, SC and Daniel George of Walterboro, SC; two ex sisters in law, Gertie George Williams (Mackey) of Walterboro, SC and Esther George of Walterboro, SC.
He leaves to cherish his memories a supportive ex-wife Etta Mae Sumter of Walterboro, SC; two daughters, Stacey Sumter of Walterboro, SC and Takesha Sumter Ellis (Keith) of Walterboro, SC; granddaughter, Megan Gowins of Walterboro, SC; brother, Robert Meminger (Willa) of Ridgeville, SC; sister Diane Meminger of Manhattan, New York; a half-sister, Nadine Copeland of Walterboro, SC; two nieces, Maisha Crosby of Baltimore, MD and Dinae Moran of Manhattan, New York; nephew, Malcolm Dean Meminger of Manhattan, New York; ex brothers in law, Lawson George (Ruthann) of Kingstree, SC, Thomas George of Walterboro, SC and Willie Ray George (Cindy) of Walterboro, SC; two ex-sisters in law, Gwendolyn George and Ruth George of Walterboro, SC; He is also survived by a very special friend, Mr. Cubit Fields of Walterboro, SC and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Harry "Donnie" Sumter, 73, of 115 Springwood Dr. Walterboro, SC. died Friday, October 18, 2019 in Charleston, SC. Family will be accepting visitors at 200 Dorsey St. APT C4 Walterboro, SC. Visitation will be held from 5-7 pm Thursday, October 24, 2019 at Allen Funeral Home Chapel in Walterboro, SC. Funeral services will also be held at chapel on Friday, October 25, 2019 at 11am. Allen Funeral Home of Walterboro in charge.
