The very soft spoken humble Laura M. Singleton Brown was born on February 20, 1953 she was the daughter of Lucille Alma Seabrook Singleton and the late Norman J. Singleton Sr. She was educated in the Beaufort County School system and achieved a degree as a Medical Secretary in Los Angeles, California. Laura joined the Israelite Baptist Church at a young age, she served as a Treasurer on the Usher Board and also part of the kitchen staff.
Laura’s love and compassion for elderly people led her to pursue a career as an Elderly Transporter and a Nursing Assistant. She retired from the Beaufort County School Food Service Department as a Manager.
She loved life, laughter, and the simple things in life such as spending quality time with friends and family. Some of her best times where spent talking on the phone with friends and watching Westerns and the Golden Girls. Her all-time favorite movie was the Color Purple.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Edmond Singleton; husband, Arthur Brown; very best friend, Cassie Mae Clarke and father Norman J. Singleton, Sr.
She leaves to cherish her memories: her devoted companion, Lewis Brown; her mother, Lucille Alma Singleton; three children, Myeshia Singleton Dukes (Jamie), Rayford Jerome Singleton, Edmund Julius Brown (Laquida); seven grandchildren, Iniijah Powell, Jahnyla Powell, Tirah L. Dukes, Edmund Julius Brown Jr.,Tyler L. Dukes, Rayford J. Singleton, Jr., Ava Brown; six siblings, Norma J. Singleton Smalls (Roy), Norman J. Singleton, Jr. (Sarah), Brenda Singleton Bailey (Robert) all of Beaufort, SC, Roman Singleton (Gail), Clarksville, TN, Lorie Simmons and Jacqueline Simmons of Orlando, FL; her best friends, Beverly Field- White, Rachel Seabrook, Jaqueline Seabrook, Eleanor Simmons, Cathy Fields and Delores Simmons; A host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Laura M. Singleton Brown, 66, of Beaufort, SC died Friday, May 10, 2019 at Coastal Carolina Hospital in Hardeeville, SC. She was the daughter of the late Mr. Norman Singleton, Sr. and Mrs. Lucille Alma Singleton and mother of Myeshia Singleton Dukes, Edumond J. Brown and Rayford Singleton. Visitation will be held from 5-7 pm Friday, May 17, 2019 at Allen Funeral Home Chapel in Beaufort, SC. Funeral services will be held 12 noon Saturday, May 18, 2019 at Israelite Baptist Church in Beaufort, SC. Allen Funeral Home of Beaufort in charge.
