Marie Edwards

Mrs. Marie Edward was born March 21, 1948 in the Frogmore Community on St. Helena Island, SC to Sam Middleton and Annie Mae Brown.
Marie was educated in the public schools system of Beaufort County. 
Marie was joined in Holy Matrimony to Mr. Bennie Lee Edwards, Jr. She was a devoted wife and enjoyed gardening, listening to music, dancing, entertaining, traveling, caregiving and spending time with her family.
Marie worked faithfully and diligently as a member of Faith Memorial Baptist Church under the leadership of Dr. Michael A. Williams and the late Dr. Horace Williams. She had a heart of Gold. Marie truly was a devoted wife, awesome mother and devoted friend whom loved the Lord. 
On Wednesday, November 20, 2019, a golden heart stopped beating. Marie heard those long awaited words from the Lord! Her Master replied “Well done, thy good and faithful servant. You have been faithful with a few things, I will put you in charge of many things, come and share your Master’s happiness.” In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband; sister, Julia Bleach; brother, Alex Jenkins and daughter, Melissa Polite. 
Marie leaves to cherish her unforgettable memories: two daughters, Latonia Boyd (Kenneth) of KY and Zilifia Chatmond of SC; five grandchildren; Deon Blakely (Lenesha),  Ayana Smalls,Lutrecia Blakely, Charde’nay Polite, Kylese Parker; seven great grandchildren;  adopted children: Nathaniel Robinson, Tawanna Singleton, Lakeisha Logan, Mechele Turner, Keith Ellis and Robert Ross; her brother, Nemiah Middleton (Ida); like sisters: Jaqulyn Scantling, Sarah Glover and Karen Holmes; special friends: James Barnes, Jr., Ann Smalls, Mr. & Mrs. John Singleton, Mr. & Mrs. Charles Chatmond and Annette Chaplin; loving niece, Janice Sue Billingslea; loving nurse, Jessica Lesesne, RN; along with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and caring friends.
