Taj Lewis Garvin was born May 17, 1988 in Hilton Head Island, SC to Charlesetta Garvin and Thomas Garvin.
Taj graduated from Ridgeland High School, and later attended Savannah Technical College, and Savannah Barbering Institute. He was employed at Bulk Bag Depot in Hardeeville, SC, and also Habitat for Humanity in Bluffton, SC. Taj was very artistic, and left behind a collection of beautiful drawings. He had a wonderful sense of humor, and had a way of always making others laugh.
On Sunday, March 2, 2014, God called Taj "home" to rest from the cares of this world; to a place where his worries and struggles will be no more. He was preceded in death by his beloved grandfather, Bishop Nathaniel Jones.
He leaves to cherish his memories: his loving mother, Charlesetta Garvin of Hardeeville, SC, and father, Thomas Garvin of Ridgeland, SC; three brothers, Nathaniel (Destiny) Duncan of Hilton Head Island, SC, Richard Garvin of Hardeeville, SC, and Tremyne Garvin of Charleston, SC; four daughters, Tajae' Garvin, Tri'Nae Garvin, Tarlasha Garvin, and Kloe Garvin; three loving nieces, Natayza Duncan, Natalie Duncan, and Deasia Duncan; his loving maternal grandmother, Jennette Jones of Hardeeville, SC; three special friends; two special great grand-aunts, Burnette (Johnny) Gadson of Ridgeland, SC; Deloris (Al) Bell of Tampa, FL; a special great grand-uncle, Evans (Dottie) Rice, Jr. of Hardeeville, SC; and a host of other aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
