Mr. Acie Johnson, Jr., 85, passed away at his residence on Monday, April 11, 2022. Arrangements are entrusted to Allen Funeral Home. We welcome you to provide your thoughts and memories on our tribute wall.
A Public Viewing will be held at Allen Funeral Chapel in Beaufort, SC on Monday, April 18, 2022, 5 PM - 7 PM. Graveside Services will be held Tuesday, April 19, 2022, at 11 o'clock in the morning at St. Helena Memorial Gardens Cemetery. A viewing will not take place at the graveside service.
Acie Johnson Jr., 85, of St. Helena Island, SC, passed away at home on Tuesday, April 12, 2022. On September 13, 1936, he was born on St. Helena Island, SC. He attended local schools: Scott Penn Elementary, Penn Center, and St. Helena High School. Upon his graduation, he moved to Boston and earned a degree from the University of Massachusetts Amherst. He enjoyed a career as a housing property manager in Boston and Atlanta. Prior to retirement, he started a landscaping company. Then in 2000, he returned home to St. Helena Island to enjoy his retirement.
Acie Johnson Jr. was a fisherman at heart, and a great cook who loved to host seafood boils for family and friends. In addition to his love of food, family, and fun, he was a dedicated member of Brick Baptist Church and a longtime volunteer at St. Francis Center. He will be remembered by his family and friends as a welcoming beacon of light for all.
He was predeceased by his wife, Rosalee Johnson, and daughter, Ava Johnson Morris.
He leaves to cherish his memories his daughter, Pamela Johnson; grandchildren, Jason Johnson, Alexis Morris, and Ciara Morris; fiancée, Mary Hayward; nieces and nephews: Jonathan (Cynthia), Roberta, Rosalyn, and Ronald; sister-in-law, Willie Mae, Asonia (Bobby); Patricia and Nathan Jr.; Eddie Jr. (Christine) and Wayne, Aunt Sadie, Cousin Maebell, and a host of cousins.
