Alfred Orr

Alfred Orr, 67, of RIdgeland, SC passed away Wednesday, June 10, 2021, at Memorial Health in Savannah, GA. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Allen Funeral Home of Ridgeland. We welcome you to provide your thoughts and memories on our tribute wall.

Mr. Alfred Orr, 67, was born in Hampton County, SC on February 4, 1954 to the late Gassie and Laura Gadson Orr. Alfred married Romona Johnson and through that union four children was born. Simula (Brandi) Orr, Sakina (Foster) Ferguson, Halima Orr, and Selair Orr Melbourne.
Alfred worked on Hilton Head Island for Cleland Construction for many years. Alfred later moved from Ridgeland, SC to Kingsland, GA.
In 2020, he moved back to Ridgeland with his oldest daughter. Alfred attended the public School of Jasper County. He was a member of Carey Hill Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend Dave Mitchell III. Alfred enjoyed playing basketball and he was phenomenal at the game.
On the evening of June 9, 2021, Alfred fought a great fight surrounded by his children and left his earthly home to his heavenly home. Alfred was preceded in death by two grandchildren; Foster R. Ferguson Jr., and Samyia J. Orr, four siblings; Annie Louise Charity, Lillie Rose Hayes Behlin, Mary Brisbane, and Juanita Morris.
Left to cherish fond memories are: his son Simula(Bunk), three daughters; Sakina (Kennie), Halima(Shang), and Selair(Coosa) all of South Carolina, two sisters; Betty Orr Pinckney, Sarah (Pop) Orr Shuler of Hilton Head, SC, one brother Joseph Orr of Woodbridge, Virginia, ten grandchildren, four great-great grandchildren, three goddaughters; La’Quanya Shirley, Meme Campbell, and Rilla Pospieszalski, two special nephews; John Whitney and Eric Orr, two special friends of the family Laverne Bellamy, and Cindy Elam, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
