David Brown was born June 4, 1958, to the late Benjamin Brown and Mable Davis in Sheldon, SC. He was taught to be a hard worker and he had a strong foundation of love, service, and speaking his truth.
He was very opinionated and kind to whoever crossed his path. As a young man, he drove a school bus for Beaufort County School District. He later joined the United States Army, where he gained Sergeant status and was in charge of recruitment. After retiring from the Army, David became a social worker for the New York City Department of Social Services as a Social Worker. There he helped many families find support and employment.
He believed in making an honest living and taking care of those he loved. His hobbies were gardening, cooking, and entertaining. He spent most of his time with his close cousin, Victor Mitchell, of North Carolina, Andrew Lee, of Sheldon, SC, George Lee of Atlanta, GA, his favorite cousin, Eva Seagar of Dale, SC, Freddie Williams of Yemassee, SC and his best friend Michael Barlette of Atlanta, GA.
To know him was a blessing because he always had a lesson. He leaves behind a legacy of encouragement and positivity.
He is well known and greatly loved. He returned to South Carolina, where he met his loving and devoted wife of 25 years, Ms. Rena Wright. Together they had a successful cleaning business. He also worked as a security officer for Coastal and Sea Pines Security.
David Brown made his transition on Monday, May 18, 2020, at his residence. He was preceded in death by his father, Benjamin Brown; his daughter, Tasha Latisha Greene; brothers, Louis Brown and Joseph Brown; sisters, Ruby Brown Hipp and Victoria Flossom. David will be missed by those who knew and loved him.
