Deacon Luther Scott was born January 22, 1927, in Beaufort County, South Carolina, son of the late Charlie Scott and Irene Brown. In his early years, he attended a one-room schoolhouse in the Big Estate community.
He was united in Holy Matrimony to the late Ernestine Scott on April 20, 1957, until her death on October 1, 2010.
He joined First African Baptist Church in Big Estate, where he served as a faithful Deacon until his health began to fail. Scott was instrumental with the upkeep of the church and its surrounding.
Among his employment, he worked with the construction of Highway 17 out of Jacksonboro; he was a Farmer of various crops and livestock animals for many years. He retired from the Lobeco Products (Tenneco Dye Plant) after 25 Years of service. He was later employed for nine years as a Senior Advisor for Ridgeland Agriculture Farm Services.
On November 7, Scott slipped into eternal peace. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, four brothers Clarence, Curtis, Sam, and Frank, one sister Wilhelmenia; two sons Albert and Luther Jr.
He leaves to cherish his memories: brother Joe Nathan, one sister in law Reverend Dr. Scott; Eight Children: Jack, Elizabeth, Ernest, Violet, Irene, Ester Marie, Marvin, and Gregory; fourteen grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren, a special grandnephew Mark, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, neighbors, church family, and friends; also a special friend of 77 years Mr. B H Mixson.
