Devon Lloyd Stewart was born on January 7th, 1954, in Kingston Jamaica. He was the first-born child to Clarence and Pearl Stewart who preceded him in death. Devon’s educational pursuits took him through the Catholic school system where he attended St. Richard's Primary School in Spanish Town, Jamaica and Holy Trinity high school in Kingston, Jamaica. Devon migrated to London, England at the age of 16 where he received his culinary training and became a renowned Pastry chef. Devon enjoyed carpentry as a hobby and was quite talented.
Devon was also adventurous and enjoyed traveling. His travels took him to Toronto, Canada and Tampa, FL before settling in Fort Lauderdale, FL where he had a host of relatives. Devon accepted the Lord Jesus as his savior in 1978 at Emmanuel House of Prayer Ft. Lauderdale, FL., under the pastorate of the late Bishop L. English. Devon also met the love of his life Judy at church where they shared a 10-year friendship before falling in love. In 1988, Devon and Judy were married, and their union produced their daughter Devana (Jeremy).
In 2000, Devon and his family migrated to Okatie, SC where he and his family became members of Fishers of Men Pentecostal Church in Beaufort, SC. Devon was known in the Beaufort community for kindness and generosity as he distributed food to needy families.
Devon also served faithfully in his family’s church, Life Tabernacle Worship Center in Ft. Lauderdale, FL., where he was ordained as an elder by Bishop Dr. Lloyd G. Barrett. Devon made many trips to Ft. Lauderdale for most church events and made many contributions. He was a faithful servant!
On January 31, 2023, surrounded by his loving wife and daughter as well as his sister-in-law and nephew, Devon answered the call as he transitioned from Earth to Glory.
Devon will be sadly missed by his loving wife Judy of 34 years and his beautiful daughter Devana. He will be remembered by a host of family members, church family, and a host of friends and well wishers that he positively impacted throughout his life. What a beautiful, loving soul!
We will never forget you, Devon! Always and Forever in our hearts.
