Louraine Wiggins was born July 27, 1939, to Allen and Smithie Jenkins of the Gillisonville township in Jasper County, South Carolina. She was the second of nine children. She was educated in the public schools of Jasper County. After graduating high school, she moved to New York City. In 1963, she met and married Willie Wiggins from Sandersville, Georgia.
She eventually moved her family back to her hometown. She earned her associates degree in Nursing in the early eighties and worked as an LPN for many years until she retired.
Louraine was a very devoted mother to her children, family... and her pets! She loved canning, cooking, entertaining, spending time with family, and most of all, fishing! She would get on the water and stay all day if she could. She loved to feed people. Inviting her neighbors, family and friends over for meals was her thing! If she wasn’t taking care of people she was taking care of animals. Those things really made her happy.
She joined the Pentecostal church at an early age. Sharing the gospel was her passion, and she practiced what she preached! In August, 2010, upon the passing of her pastor, Bishop Dan Smith, she became the faithful pastor of Mt. Calvary Pentecostal Church in Gillisonville, until her death.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Allen and Smithie; her daughter, Iona Wiggins; her son, Joey Dupont; her brothers, Luther, Dennis, Phenix, Roger; four other siblings that died at birth.
She leaves to cherish her memories: her children: Tyrone Jenkins of Tampa FL., Annette Wiggins of Atlanta, GA., John Wiggins (Shontel) of Texas , and Troy Wiggins (Ebony) of Ridgeland, SC ; fourteen grandchildren, Terrell Jenkins, Lamont Wiggins, Andre Jenkins, Yasmin Jenkins, Alasha Young (Kenard), Shante Williams, Makayla Wiggins, Mya Wiggins, Jayvon Jenkins, Makhi Martin, Eniya Simpson, Essance Martin, Brittany Newton, Jaray Anderson; five great-grandchildren, DeAndre Wiggins, John David Wiggins, Lamyiah Annette Wiggins, Amara Nehls and Kinsley Butler; one sister, Gloria Jenkins Baker (Bobbie); one sister-in-law, Helen Jenkins; two uncles, Joe and David Allen; and a host of nephews, nieces, loving relatives and caring friends, all of whom will miss her dearly.
