Mrs. Ella Frances Thompson, 91, of Orangeburg, SC passed away at her residence Tuesday, May 10, 2022. Arrangements are entrusted to Allen Funeral Home. We welcome you to provide your thoughts and memories on our tribute wall.
Frances was born August 14, 1930 in Duplin
County, North Carolina to the late Johnny and Lou Wilson. God saw that the load was getting heavy, so He called her from labor to reward. She departed this life on Tuesday, May 10, 2022, at her son’s home in Orangeburg, SC. Frances attended Duplin County Schools. Frances loved to learn. She was extremely smart, had an astounding memory, loved singing and acting in plays.
While living in New York, she was a faithful and dedicated member at Bethel Baptist Church under Rev. William J. Hall and Solid Rock Baptist Church under Rev. Margaret Shepard. When she moved to South Carolina, she was an active and dedicated member at Holy Temple and Jones Chapel Baptist Church under Reverend Bryce D. Jamison, where she served for years in the choir, until her health failed. She lived in New York for a total of 60 years where she worked as a laundress and a presser for a dry-cleaning business. She also lived in California for 2 years where she worked as a live-in maid.
After her retirement, she spent her life serving in her church and spending time with her family. Frances was known for her love of singing, her family, her sons and most of all God and His Church. She was a loving and devoted mother, sister, and friend. She will remain in the hearts of all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, three
brothers John “Fig” Wilson, James “Nick” Wilson, Robert “Bob” Wilson, sister Ernestine “Tine” Wilson, son Hatim Munir and son James “Lionel” Wright, 1st Husband: Enoch Wright (father of Hatim and Lionel), 2nd Husband: Jimmy Thompson.
She leaves to cherish her memory one son: Anthony Wright of Orangeburg, SC; four grandchildren, Sherry (Brent) Dial of Knoxville, TN, Antoinette Wright and Emanuel Wright of Albuquerque, NM, and Shawn (LaNeisha) Peterkin of Surprise, AZ; four great-grandchildren: Trenton Frazier, Peyton, Mia and Christian Dial, two brothers: Percy (Venia) Wilson of Bear, DE, and Everette (Patricia) Wilson of Warsaw, NC; sister-in-law: Judy Wilson of Warsaw, NC; sister-in-law: Dorothy and Jean Pittman of New York; close friend:Elsie Robinson also leaves, a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
