Evelyn Marie Holmes was born February 1, 1962 on St. Helena Island, South Carolina. She was the daughter of the late Deacon Clarence Holmes and Deaconess Agnes Holmes. 
Evelyn Holmes was educated in the Beaufort County Schools and a graduate of Beaufort High School.
“Lynn” as she was officially called, was family oriented and a very quiet friendly soul. She loved encouraging and supporting others. In her early years she worked as a Nurse at Beaufort Memorial Hospital. She also worked as a Social Worker for the Department of Social Services. 
Lynn dedicated her life to the Lord and became a member of Jehovah Church of Jesus Christ. She loved the Lord and was dedicated to her church. Lynn served on the Choir and sang faithfully with her unique voice. Lynn has served as a choir director, choir president, Pastor’s Aide member and a Youth Leader at Jehovah Church of Jesus Christ. Lynn believes in working while its day because when night comes no man can work. 
On Thursday, October 27, 2022 God called Evelyn Marie Holmes home from labor to reward. She was preceded in death by her brother Joseph Holmes Sr. 
She leaves to cherish her loving memories, her three children, Brandon Drayton and Bethaney Drayton of St. Helena Island, SC.  Breia Drayton of Hilton Head, SC,  one Granddaughter, Braxton Drayton of St. Helena Island, SC, two sisters Clarissa (Roscoe) Hernton of Beaufort, SC and Jean Lopez of Mexico, two brothers Clarence Jr. (Marsha) Holmes of St. Helena Island, SC and Derrick (Monica) Holmes of El Paso, TX, aunts; Connie (William) Jenkins, Arlene Actie, Linda Plummer, Doris Watson, Joy Gillison, and Minne (Clifford) Lee uncles; Jessie (Darlinda) Holmes, Calvin (Albertha) Holmes, Luke (Niecey) Jenkins, Earl Holmes,  a host of other relatives, nieces, nephews, church family and friends.
