Gladys Barnes Obituary

Mrs. Gladys Barnes, 75 of Yemassee, SC passed away at her residence on Saturday, May 28, 2022. Arrangements are entrusted to Allen Funeral Home. We welcome you to provide your thoughts and memories on our tribute wall.


Gladys Barnes, was born October 21, 1946, in Beaufort County, South Carolina, to Dellzena Brown and the late Frank Coker.
She resided for most of her life in Beaufort, South Carolina, where she attended the public schools of Beaufort County.
Gladys accepted Jesus Christ as her personal savior at an early age. She served as an Usher and Secretary in many churches. For numerous of years, she served at cook. Gladys enjoyed life and lived life to the fullest. She was welled known and loved by many. She was a lively person and didn’t let life bumps and bruises slow her down. Gladys favorite words (I pay the cost to be the boss). Gladys will be remembered with her warm hugs, beautiful smiles, and kisses.
On the 28th day of May 2022. God called His faithful servant home to an eternal rest. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Blondell Mack-Singleton and Estella Coker-Williams: two brothers, Benjamin Franklin and Christopher Coker Sr.: one niece Theodocia Mack-Allen.
Gladys was a loving, daughter, sister, godmother, aunt who will greatly missed by her family. Precious memories of the beautiful times shared shall always linger in the hearts of those she loved and who loved her.
Her precious memory shall be cherished by; her mother, Dellzena Brown of Sheldon, SC: Adopted daughter LaDonia Simmons of Walterboro, SC: two Goddaughters, Stacy Doe and Monica Byrd, both of Beaufort, SC.
She is also survived by three sisters, Elizabeth (John) White of Ridgeland, SC. Lou-Eleanor (Alvin) Taylor of Yemassee, SC. Evelena (George) Cuffee Norfolk, VA; four brothers, Lynwood (Carol) Mack of Yemassee, SC, Leon (Nicole) Brown of Sheldon, SC, Herny (Sabrina) Coker and Robert Coker both of Norfolk, VA; one aunt, Miriam Greene; two uncles, Benjamin (Alexine) Middleton and Leory Mack; one sister-in-law, Dolores Coker of Yemassee, SC; one brother-in-law Richard A. Singleton Sr. of Yemassee, SC. A special niece, Roxanne Singleton. A special friend of many years/caregiver Alnetha Gray. A special caregiver Shaliea Martin; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
