Harold Anthony Gordon was born December 13, 1954, in Beaufort, South Carolina to the late Thurman Braye, Sr. and Florence Jones.
He was educated in the local public schools of Beaufort County where he graduated with class of 1973. He was well-known for his athletic abilities in football and track during his school years. Harold was employed as a Pool Service Tech for 13 years and a Cable Tech for 16 years with Adelpha Cable Company in Hilton Head. He was a hard-worker, well-known and respected by all that loved him. He was a very generous and kind-hearted person. He loved his family whole-hearted. Even though his life was cut short he made an impact on the lives of many. Harold was a devoted member of Zion Oak Grove Baptist Church until he became ill.
On August 26, 2006, Harold was joined in Holy Matrimony to Ruth Jones.
On Friday, April 10, 2020, God dispatched His loving angels and in a twinkling of an eye, Harold A. Gordon was called from labor into eternal rest at Ridgeland Nursing Center in Ridgeland, SC. He was preceded in death by his fathers, Thurman Braye, Sr. and Benjamin Jones, Sr.; three brothers: Thad Braye, Verd Braye, and Jonathan Braye, Sr. Harold was a hard worker, well known and respected by all who knew him. Harold will truly be missed by those who knew and loved him.
He leaves to cherish his unforgettable memories: his loving wife: Ruth Gordon of Ridgeland,SC; three sons: Charles Reid of Dale, SC, Evanical Patterson, Jr. of NJ and Troy Patterson of North Carolina; five daughters: Beverly Gordon-Daise (Richard) of Jenkins, SC, Mary Shaw (Ryan) of Beaufort, SC, Evelena Gordon of Burton, SC, Kimberly Patterson and Ashley Patterson-Bolden both of Ridgeland, SC; ten special grandchildren: De'Monte Daise, Kharion Daise, Jermiah Gadson, Anastasia Garrett, Zykeriyah Zackery, Reyna Shaw, Matthew Patterson, Kimora Olidge, Zamere Patterson and Rashid Patterson; four brothers: his twin, Herbert Gordon of Brooklyn, NY, Benjamin Jones, Jr. of Atlanta, GA, Kendall Jones of Brooklyn, NY and Thurman Braye (Lorene) of Honolulu, HI; five sisters: Mary Braye-Daniels (Clennon) of Beaufort, SC, Doris Braye-Harper (David) of Ft. Pierce, FL, Arlene Braye-Veronique (Paul) of Beaufort, SC, Judy Braye-McCullough (Clyde) of Deptford, NJ and November Duvall of Marlboro, Maryland; special friends: Robert Lee Smalls, Graylin Singleton and Wilbur Singleton; to include host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
