Henry Jenkins, 60, of Beaufort, SC passed away on Thursday, October 21, 2021, at Beaufort Memorial Hospital. Arrangements are entrusted to Allen Funeral Home of Beaufort. We welcome you to provide your thoughts and memories on our tribute wall.
Henry T. Jenkins, Sr. transitioned from this life of labor to the loving arms of the Lord on Thursday, October 21, 2021. His devotion to his family and his firm belief in God supported him in his struggle and ultimately gave him peace. Henry was a loving father, grandfather, a devoted husband, a loyal friend, and phenomenal man of God. He was born to Margaret Louise Owens & Frank Henry Jenkins, Sr. on September 4, 1961 on St. Helena Island, S.C. Henry graduated with the class of 1980’ at Beaufort High School. He owned and operated his own shoeshine shop of Beaufort. He eventually entered the transportation industry where he left a lasting impression.
Henry spent most of his life as a professional truck driver. His favorite line on the CB was, “You got the Cowboy, throw your rope”! He was employed with Sunbelt Rentals until his health began to decline. He will be best remembered as the crab and shrimp man! Henry gave his life to the Lord at an early age and was baptized at Ebenezer Baptist Church and later joined Central Baptist Church in Beaufort, S.C. Henry was a community servant leader. He was a member of King Solomon Lodge #10, in which he was currently serving as the Worship Master. He also was a member of Mount Sinai Grand Lodge and a charter member of the Zeta Male Network of Beaufort.
Henry was blessed with a large and loving family. He married his best friend , Angela Rumley Jenkins. They were married for more than thirty-two years. They welcomed three children, two god children, and two grandchildren.
Henry was preceded in death by his parents, sister Barbara Jenkins, brother Benjamin “BJ” Owens, and his adopted sister Francis Elizabeth Frazier.
Henry leaves to cherish his most precious memories with his wife, Angela Rumley Jenkins of St. Helena Island, S.C; his loving children; Dora Jenkins of Pooler, G.A, Henry T. Jenkins Jr. currently station in Djibouti, Africa, and Desmond Jenkins of St. Helena Island, S.C,Two grandchildren Serena Joy Harris and Thai Lelonie Jenkins, god-children Gregory Blackwell (Alexis), and Sade Snowten. His loving siblings Frank Jenkins, Jr., Anthony Rudolph Jenkins, both from Savannah, G.A, Joe Owens (Vernetta) Joseph Jenkins (Beverly), Richard Jenkins, Leroy K. Jenkins (Willie Mae) all of St. Helena Island, S.C, Esau M. Jenkins (Yolanda) Charleston S.C; Sarah Lee Middleton, Brenda Jenkins, Alfreda Singleton all from St. Helena Island, S.C, Ida Mae-Singleton (Joe Nathan) from Lady’s Island, S.C, brother-in-law Eugene Frazier, an Uncle, Apostle Leroy Jenkins (Viola) of Beaufort, S.C, an aunt Helen Owens of Passaic, N.J. Two adoptive brothers Ray Charles and Greg Norton, a special friend Louis Rivers, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
