Irvin Loring Jackson, Jr., 62, of Beaufort, SC, died Saturday, June 27, 2020, at his residence. Visitation will be held Sunday, July 5, 2020, from 5-7 pm at Allen Funeral Home Chapel in Beaufort, SC. Funeral Services are private and will be live-streamed on Facebook (Allen Galloway) Monday, July 6, 2020, at 12noon.
Irvin Loring Jackson, Jr. is affectionately known as “Brucey” was born to the parentage of the late Irvin L. & Albertha Coker Jackson on May 22, 1958.
Brucey attended the public schools on both Yemassee and Beaufort County. He graduated from Battery Creek High School, class of 1976. He enlisted in the United States Army where he had basic training at Fort Sill, Oklahoma. His journey included a tour of duty in South Korea where he served as a Medic; eventually returning to Fort Riley, Kansas, completing his military service.
He attended the University of South Carolina in Spartanburg, South Carolina for a brief period before deciding to return to the Lowcountry. Even then, Brucey was a free spirit and adventurous soul that could make anyone laugh. Always marching to the beat of his own drum, he had a great zest for life. His trade as a carpenter was considered exemplary and sought after by many. He was employed with various companies all along the Southeast coast.
On Saturday, June 27, 2020, he departed this life in St. Helena Island, South Carolina.
His memories will be forever cherished by his daughters: Niage’t Jackson of Columbia, South Carolina and Angel Jackson of Yemassee, South Carolina; grandson: Jadon Singleton of Decatur, Georgia; sister: Anne Chisolm (Alfred) of Yemassee, South Carolina; brothers: Tyrone Jackson (Geneva), Kenneth Jackson all of Yemassee, South Carolina and Clinton Jackson of Bluffton, South Carolina; aunt: Mildred Jackson of Washington, DC; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and loving friends.
