James Smith Jr. Obituary


James “Bobo” Smith Jr., the son of the late Jim and Amanda Smith; also Katie Smith, was born December 31, 1949, in Ridgeland, SC.  Bobo as he was affectionately called was raised in the community of Mitchellville, SC, and attended the schools of Jasper County.  Throughout his life, Bobo worked in various jobs.  He worked for many years until he sustained an injury and was unable to work any longer
Bobo was a member of the New Zion Baptist Church under the leadership of the Reverend Dave A. Mitchell III.
 
On Sunday, July 19, 2020, after a short illness, Bobo received his wings at the Coastal Carolina Hospital, Hardeeville SC.   
To know Bobo was to just love him. He was a caring, warmhearted man who never changed. Always the same. He smiled, rode his bicycle, and lived a peaceful life. His first love was God, then family.  The bond and the love he shared with his sisters and his family was real love. When he spoke to his sisters it was “Sister or Baby”.  He genuinely loved them.  Bobo wasn’t blessed with a family of his own but he had a great love for all of his nieces and nephews.  Most uncles barely know their nieces and nephews but uncle Bobo knew his 
Our family will forever be grateful for the life of our loved one.  James “Bobo” will be missed more than words could ever express.  When you have lived a life as he did we can rejoice to know that all is well with his soul. We will shed tears and always share fond memories of his life but, God knows best and we know that God makes no mistakes.
 
James is survived by his sisters Ethel (Richard) Rivens of Queens NY., Florida Johnson (James Johnson preceded in death)  of Coosawhatchie SC., Valerie (Delroy) Smith-Reed of Fort Lauderdale FL., Christine Ivey, Gilliam of MD., Sisters Margaret Goodwin, Sarah Ann Chest, Ruby Medlock (preceded in Death), also to include a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and many friends.
 

 Public Walk thru viewing will be 6 pm - 7 pm, Friday, July 24, 2020, at Allen Funeral Complex in Ridgeland, SC. The Funeral will be held at 11 Am, Saturday, July 25, 2020, at Allen Funeral Home Complex in Ridgeland SC. Allen Funeral Home Complex of Ridgeland is in Charge. Please keep in mind, we are practicing social distancing, also wearing a face mask is required to enter the facility.
