Mother Janie Antley, daughter of the late Elouise B. Green and the late Stephen Green, was born August 23, 1934, in Beaufort, South Carolina. Janie attended the public schools of Beaufort County School District. She was always smiling and always found a way to include God’s word in her conversations.
Her religious education began as a young child at Third Macedonia Baptist Church in Burton, South Carolina and later a faithful and active member of Gray’s Hill Full Gospel in Gray’s Hill, South Carolina. Janie served as one of the mothers of the church, where she often shared her testimonies of how the Lord moved in her life. Janie walked a Christian walk and was a spiritual mother to those who met her. Janie truly served the Lord in Spirit and Truth.
Mother Janie was employed for over 25 years with the Hyatt Regency of Hilton Head Island, South Carolina and Palmetto Dunes Housekeeping Services. Janie had special gifts in delivering the Lord’s word, gardening, cooking, cleaning and joke-telling.
On Thursday, April 2, 2020, midday, God being too wise to make mistakes and too just to be unkind, sent his angels to Beaufort Memorial Hospital to bring His child home. Mother Janie heard her Master’s call and journeyed home to the mansion that He had prepared for her one where there was no more sickness or pain and every day would be like Sunday. In addition to her father and mother, Mother Janie was also preceded in death by her brother, John Green; daughter, Annie Mae Williams; son, Rodney Antley; and granddaughter, Veronica Green.
Mother Janie leaves to cherish her most fondest memories and legacy to a loving and devoted family: her children: Irene Green-Chisolm of Hilton Head Island, SC, Anna Belle Green of Indianapolis, Indiana, Cynthia Frazier of Ridgeland, SC, Debra Antley of Indiana, Catherine Harris of Beaufort, SC, Kenneth Green (Tina), Perry Antley and Michael Antley all of Beaufort, SC; her siblings: Vernell Green and Verneal Jenkins of Beaufort, SC; Eloise Gray of Elkart, Indiana and James Burns of St. Helena Island, SC, Janie leaves 19 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and 7 great great grandchildren; to include a host of nieces, nephews. Special friends: Ruth Pierce and Mother Louise Milton; devoted and caring relatives to include: Reverend Louis Murray, Carolyn Dunbar, Rosa Lee Burns, Cleveland Burns and Sarah Murray.
