Jimmie Gadson, was born on September 23, 1942, to the parents of the late Inez Swinton and Oliver Gadson, in Jasper County, South Carolina. HE who is powerful, HE who is wise, HE who is compassionate and has understanding, stretched forth HIS hands and took the hands of our loved one on Friday, April 15, 2022, at 4:37 am at his residence.
Jimmie was formally educated at Fashion Industries Vocational High School, after his family relocated to New York, where he graduated in June of 1960. He was employed with General Motors in New York City for twenty-six and a half years. Jimmie was a loving husband, father, brother, and friend.
He was proceeded in death by his parents, Inez Swinton and Oliver Gadson; two brothers, Julius King Fish Swinton and Cephus Po’boy Swinton Sr.; two sisters, Ethel Lee Swinton Davis and Gertrude Armstead; and one special uncle, that he loved dearly, Jerry Gadson.
Jimmie is survived by his wife of forty years, Barbara Gadson of the home; four sons, Jimmie (Pizaron) Gadson Jr. and Gary Gadson, of New York City, Darrell Blackburn Gadson (JoeAnna) of Richmond, Virginia, and Rodney Gadson of La Plata, Maryland; three brothers, William (Sadie) Clark of Mitchellville, SC, Bobby (Shelly) Swinton of Wagon Branch, and Larry (Linda) Gadson of Ridgeland, SC, two sisters; Hattie Beamon of Arizona and Deloris Woshum of Bronx, New York, one aunt Beatrice Gregary (sisters Laws) Rosa Swinton of Pineland, SC, Carolyn Williams of Atlanta, Georgia, Belinda Burroughs of Queens, New York, eleven grands, nine great grands, two special cousins; Tersea Covington of Atlanta, Georgia and Elite (Ruthy Mae Flint) of Ridgeland, SC, a special niece Aundrea (Jerome) of Scotia, SC, along with neices and nephews, other relatives and friends.
