Joseph Austin

Rev Joseph Austin, of Yemassee, SC passed away on Monday, November 8, 2021, at his residence. Arrangements are entrusted to Allen Funeral Home of Beaufort. We welcome you to provide your thoughts and memories on our tribute wall.  

Joseph Austin (Alston) was born on February 10, 1931 to the late Clemon and Annie Austin in Yemassee, SC. Joseph transitioned at his home on Monday, November 8, 2021. 
As a young man Joseph joined the Army and served his country, fighting in Korea. Throughout his life, Joseph Alston held a variety of jobs: railroad porter, painter, boiler tech, hospital worker and for US General Service administration. In 1984, Joseph answered his calling to Minister and fulfilled his lifelong ambition to preach God’s word. He was a member of Living Bible Ministries, where he served faithfully, preaching second Sundays. 
In 1954, Joseph married Lilian Randolph and had three children: Joanne, David and Timothy.
In 1984, Joseph married Sandra Carmichael and help raised Walidah Imarisha.
Joseph was preceded in death by: his parents, his brothers Richard Alston and Ephriam Alston, sisters Mary Alston Rozelle and Hattie Mae Alston Pinckney; his daughter Joanne Alston, son David Alston and his late wife Mary Buckner.
He leaves his sister Miriam McDonald, son Timothy Alston, daughter Walidah Imarisha, and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who cherish his memory.
