Julia Wiggin Obituary

Julia B. Wiggins, 87, of Walterboro passed away on Saturday, September 4, 2021, at Colleton Medical Center. Arrangements are entrusted to Allen Funeral Home of Walterboro. We welcome you to provide your thoughts and memories on our tribute wall.

M rs. Julia Boatwright Wiggins, was born November 16, 1933 to George and Annie Buckner Boatwright in Islandton, SC. Julia attended the public schools in Colleton County, SC.
Julia later in life moved to Hackensack, NY where she met the love of her life, Mr. Palmer O. Wiggins and they were married on July 8, 1977.
Julia worked for the County of Bergen in Hackensack, NJ as a Juvenile detention officer. She worked there for many years until her retirement. She and Palmer then decided to move back to Walterboro, SC and joined Mt. Sinai Baptist church in Varnville, SC.
“Aunt Julia” as family and friends called her was a loving and giving person. She loved to have cookouts and dinners so she could invite all her family and friends to come and just enjoy being together. She was such a kind hearted person, but don’t cross her because she would have a word for you. Her favorite hobby was sitting at home with her favorite dog, Rosco. He made her days.
On Saturday, September 4, 2021, Julia Boatwright Wiggins heard the voice of her Savior saying, “Servant well done”, and she moved from labor to reward. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister: Odell Boatwright Lightsey; two brothers: George Boatwright, Jr and Clarence Boatwright. Julia will be missed by those who knew and loved her.
Julia’s memories will forever be cherished by her “Help Team” as she referred to us: Richard L. and Pandrea C. Wrice who she also called her children; sister in law: Josephine Boatwright; brother in law: Wilbur Wiggins, Herbie (Aleatha) Wiggins, Carolyn Wiggins Sankitts, Cheyenne Wrice, Madison Morris, Madell Jamison Sanders, Verlinda Mosley; friend and neighbor Marvella Russell. “Aunt Julia” would always say, “Since I never had any children of my own I have other peoples little ones and grown ones that she referred to as her god children, great god children, and children”; to include a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will greatly miss her.
