Larry Leonard Gillison, 59, of Seabrook, S.C. passed away Saturday, January 16, 2021.
Larry was born on May 31, 1961, to Mary Bell Chisolm Gillison (deceased) and Nathan Gillison, Sr. in Beaufort County, SC. Soon after birth, Larry was adopted and raised by Alice and Thomas Gillison (deceased). He was a 1980 graduate of Battery Creek High School and later attended the Jasper County Career Educational Center where he pursued his passion in home economics. Larry devoted his life to being kind, respectful, and friendly to all those with whom he came in contact.
He accepted Jesus Christ into his life at an early age and throughout life's challenges, he found his way back as recently as 2018 when he renewed his Christian walk with God while visiting the Shepherd's House Ministries, under the leadership of Reverend Dr. Bernard Middleton. Larry is known for always sharing his favorite Bible verse with others; Matthew 10:33.
Larry is survived by three children; Lateesha Gillison of Beaufort, SC, Ieesha (Charles) Brown of Bluffton, SC, and Kimberly Jenkins (step-daughter); three sisters; Margaret Williams of Clinton, MD, Margaret Jenkins of Seabrook, SC, and Annie Cummings Daise of St. Helena Island, SC; three brothers; Nathan (Angie) Gillison, Jr. of Walterboro, SC, Esau (Evonne) Gillison of Beaufort, SC and Jacob Gillison of Clinton, MD; six grandchildren; Taleah Taylor, Jeniyah Jordan, Kayleigh Grace, S'Veon, Olivia and Omaria; Nephew Jamal Gillison; family friend, Rhea Petty; two Aunts, a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
