Mark Moragne Obituary

Marcus Cleophus Moragne, 83, of Charlotte, NC, passed away on Friday, May 7, 2021, at Atrium Health University Hospital,  in Charlotte, NC. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Allen Funeral Home.

Marcus Cleophus Moragne was born on February 20, 1937 in McCormick County, South Carolina. He was the seventh child born to the late Robert and Mattie (Freeman) Moragne.
He attended McCormick County Schools and graduated from Mims High School. He then moved to Detroit and worked at Ford Motor for a short time and then moved to Charlotte, North
Carolina to work for the Federal Reserve Band and retired after 30 years of service.
Marcus was affectionally known as “Mark” by his family and friends. He was a member of Springfield AME Zion Church in McCormick, South Carolina. Although Mark was a man of few
words, he did not shy away from sharing his faith in song to those who would listen…he was known to raise a few hymns. He enjoyed sitting outside watching the beauty. Mark perfectly placed his rocking chair by his window to keep a watchful eye out for his family and neighbors. Mark loved his family very much and cared for their security.
Mark had a good sense of humor and a smile that would light the entire room. He was soft-spoken, gentle, and patient with everyone around him. Mark and his brothers were avid classic car
enthusiasts. Nothing would make his day more than a conversation about his hometown or classic cars. Mark will be missed by all.
Mark went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, May 8, 2021 in Charlotte, North Carolina. Mark was preceded in death by sisters Ida Moragne and Sara Hall, his brothers Curtis Moragne,
Robert R.L. Lester Moragne and his sister Florence Viola McClure.

He leaves to mourn his loss sister Dorothy J. (Moragne) Brisbane, Geneva Ware, his brother, Fuller Moragne and wife (Dorothy Grier) Moragne, two special nieces, Gloria Funderburke and Robi Brisbane all of Charlotte, NC; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends
