Martha Jackson Obituary

Rev. Martha Jackson, 81, of Ridgeland, SC passed away on Saturday, September 4, 2021, at her residence in Ridgeland. Arrangements are entrusted to Allen Funeral Home of Ridgeland. We welcome you to provide your thoughts and memories on our tribute wall.

Pastor Martha Rhett Jackson 81, of Ridgeland (Coosawhatchie), transitioned to eternal life peacefully on Saturday, September 4, 2021 at her beautiful residence surrounded by her loving family. Pastor Martha was born February 22, 1940 to the late Annie Mae Tilley Rhett Simmons of Ridgeland, South Carolina. Pastor Martha gave her life to the LORD at an early age, she was a devoted member of First
African Baptist Church until meeting and marrying Bishop West H. Jackson, Sr. They relocated to Syracuse, NY and continued her desire to serve GOD and HIS people. She joined Second Olivet Missionary Baptist Church, where she attended and worked diligently within the ministry.
Pastor Martha was a gifted woman with an extraordinary anointing straight from HEAVEN which directed her to inform her pastor, Rev. William Mack that she was being led to Refuge Tabernacle Church of GOD in Christ, under the leadership of Superintendent Theodore McRae. It was there at Refuge Tabernacle that this lovely couple began working together in ministry and adhering to the Voice of the LORD. She did not only want to gain spiritual wisdom, she wanted more knowledge and understanding and went on to pursue the completion of her high school diploma. She continued on with her thirst for knowledge and completed, passed the state board, and became a licensed Cosmetologist. She worked independently and collectively with others within her field. Once becoming a licensed entrepreneur, she was driven for more knowledge, which led her to enroll, completed, and received her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration Management and Bachelor of Science in Counseling from South Carolina State University, Orangeburg, South Carolina.
GOD continued to lead this loving couple back to Ridgeland, South Carolina and instructed them to build the True Church and preach to the community about the good news of JESUS CHRIST. They proceeded to do as instructed and the LORD GOD blessed and continued to bless abundantly. Despise not small beginnings, because GOD will make you ruler over many -- truly rulers over many is exactly what this couple came to be: community leader, social workers, philanthropists, real estate owners, foster parents, and the list continues. You can never out bless GOD, HE will always bless you.
Pastor Martha was preceded in death by her mother, Annie Mae Simmons, sisters: Elizabeth Rhett Osgood, Jannie Vise Smith, Gussie Mae Mike, Rosena Burgess; brothers: Wilson Rhett, Jr., Nathaniel Rhett, and Elonzo Simmons; brothers-in-laws, Willie E. Mike, Sr., Robert Magwood, Joseph Smith, and Henry Osgood; and, one great grandson, Jewell Nasir Alston. She leaves to cherished her precious memories to her beloved husband, Bishop West Jackson, Sr., her children: Barbara (Richard) Howze, ATF-Special agent West (Mary) Jackson, Jr., Mellaney (Daniel) Williams, and Vandarray (Terry) Jackson; one sister, Irene Magwood of Orlando, FL; she also raised numerous children just to mention the following: Shanette Heyward, Monique Hamilton-Wallace, Darnell Hamilton and Lavon Lewis; 35 grandchildren, 30 + great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends .
