Mary Maxwell Green, daughter of the late Robert and Virginia Maxwell, was born on 15 July 1912 in Savannah, GA. On Sunday morning, 12 July 2020, God called His servant to her eternal home. Mary worked several positions during her younger years. She worked as a maid, caregiver, and as a cook at the Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island, in Beaufort, SC. Mary also raised several children in the Dale community and they all lovingly referred to her as “Mother.”
Mary gave her life to Christ at an early age. She was a faithful member of the Mt. Carmel Baptist Church in Dale, SC. She served as an Usher, Willing Worker, and a Missionary Worker providing meals to the sick and shut-ins until her health failed.
Mary was united in Holy Matrimony to the late Richard Green Sr. Together they had 10 children, Victoria Coakley, Richard Green, Jr., Willie Green, Mary (Carol) Grant, Loretta Evans, Alease Coaxum, and Redell G. Johnson who preceded her in death. She leaves her remaining daughters who were devoted to her care to mourn her death, Albertha Coakley of Dale, SC, Margaret Maxwell of Charleston, SC, and Cassie Heyward of Oak Ridge, TN. She also leaves behind Ojetta Fields, a special caretaker.
Her memory will forever be cherished by her loving 55 grandchildren, 59 great-grandchildren, 30 great-great-grandchildren, and a host of other special family and friends.
Mary Maxwell Green, 107, of Seabrook (Dale, SC) Graveside Services will be held 7 pm Saturday, July 18, 2020, at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church Cemetery in Seabrook, SC
