Mary Rock, 66, of Beaufort, SC passed away on Monday, October 25, 2021, at her residence. Arrangements are entrusted to Allen Funeral Home of Beaufort and are pending at this time. We welcome you to provide your thoughts and memories on our tribute wall.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Mary Daniel Rock will be held Sunday, October 1st, 2021. The walk thru will be held from 11 AM until the time of service at 3 PM @ Allen Funeral Home in Beaufort, SC.


Mary T. Daniel Rock was born January 12, 1955, to the late Ramona Annie-Lee Taylor Daniel and Joseph Daniel Sr., in Shreveport, LA. She attended Booker T. Washington High School for a while, then graduated from Captain Shreve High School in 1973.
After high school Mary joined the Marine Corps where she served 20 years before retiring. While serving in the Marine Corps, Mary did two tours in Okinawa and she earned severval medals including: Reed Nat’l Defense SVC Medal, Letters of Commendation and appreciation, rifle expert and pistol sharpshooter badges, and good conduct and Meritorious Unit Commendations. During her career in the Marine Corps, Mary worked as a drill instructor and in special services and upon her retirement in August of 1993, Mary was the Legal Cheif of Depot Law Center on Parris Island Marine Corps in Beaufort, SC.
Mary was a woman of many talents. She was a very driven and hardworking business woman. She was an avid lover of music, dance and writing. She was a published author of poetry, a passion she passed on to her children. Mary had the once in a lifetime opportunity to not only interview but also publish a historical article on Warrant Officer Annie Laurie Grimes. the first African American Female Officer in the USMC. Her article was printed and displayed across multiple platforms. She was an active member of her community, serving as a proud Member of Zeta Amicae Auxiliary of Beaufort  and also as President of the SCCCDC (St Helena Island).
On Monday, October 25, 2021, Mary Daniel Rock transitioned peacefully at her home into the arms of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She will truly be missed by all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her parents Ramona and Joseph Daniel, and her sister Patricia Lynn Daniel.
Mary is survived by her loving companion Arthur J. Brown, her children: ZaBrina Paige-Kennedy of Jacksonville, NC, Daniel M. Clinton of Beaufort, SC, her four step children; Arthur J. Brown Jr. (Tamika), Alphonso R. Brown, and Melanie J. Brown, one sister; Lydia Daniel Young and her husband Retired MGySgt Sam Young, Jr. of Lawton, Ok, one brother; Joseph Daniel Jr., and his wife Jane of Lawton, OK, one god sister (crib sister) Carolyn Stafford of Round Rock, TX, two grandsons; Derrick Duggans of Fayetteville, Arkansas, and Ramoan Paige of Jacksonville, NC, one great granddaughter; Cataleya Perez-Duggans, and a host of cousins, other relatives and friends.
