Mary Ruth Hale was born July 30,1969 in East Orange General Hospital to the late Yvonne Hale & George Washington Hale Sr. She was the youngest of 7 siblings. She was raised and educated in the East Orange, New Jersey school district.
At age seven Mary was baptized at Saint Peters Baptist church in New Jersey to a host of friend’s family and the church. In 3rd grade she took up playing the flute and continued up until high-school. Young Mary loved to take pictures of you when you weren’t looking, playing tricks, joking around and hanging out with her dear niece, Denise. She liked going to concerts and took a liking to cats. She was full of life, full of passion, full of drive.
In 1987 she graduated from East Orange Highschool. She first decided to continue her education at Kean College in Union New Jersey & Fairleigh Dickinson college in Hoboken, New Jersey where she chose a focus in photography. Mary also worked at a few department stores notably ToysRUs and Caldor Dept. Store.
Soon after she switched her focus to training at the fire department. There she met the love of her life, her husband; Robert Brown.
They got to know each other and soon after got married at Orange Memorial Hospital at the bedside of her father in 1996 before his passing. They remarried on January 20th, 1997 at the church she grew up in, in New Jersey. They moved to Ladys Island, Beaufort, SC in 1998 where they started their new lives.
In 1998 she gave birth to her first baby girl Rhybera J. Brown. She loved her so dearly 4 years later, in 2001 she gave birth to her youngest daughter Rhykera J. Brown. They raised them to be full of love and compassion.
Mary ultimately decided she wanted to take up teaching young children in head-start, giving them the building blocks of life. While she taught, she attended school, majoring in Child Development. Anybody will tell you Mary Ruth was the best and most patient teacher ever, inside and outside of the classroom.
On June 24th, 2024 she was called home where she can carry out her heavenly duties. We will miss her optimism, her voice, her beauty, her love, her joy, her unique humor, we will miss everything. Though the earthly you isn’t with us the spiritual you lives on forever and ever. Forever Mary Ruth, we love you!!
