Beatrice “Bee” Fields Graham was born on August 29, 1918 to her proud parents, the late Randall and Elizabeth Fields. She was raised in Jasper County, South Carolina. She was one of 13 children. And she was preceded in death by all 12 of her siblings. They include: Elonzo Fields, Lucile Thomas, Tom Fields, Sadie O’Neil, Edna Gibbs, Ruth Garrett, Elijah Fields, Willie Fields, John Fields, Harry Fields, Frank Fields, and Laura Mae Bass.
Beatrice attended school in Jasper County. And at an early age, she gave her life to Jesus Christ, and attended several churches. She joined Second African Baptist Church, affectionately known as Second A.B., at 13-years-old. The late Rev. Ned Washington served as pastor of the historic, Coosawhatchie, South Carolina congregation at that time. She was a faithful member of that church for many years.
She later joined Solomon Temple Holiness Church in Pineland, South Carolina, under the leadership of the late Elder Kirkland Ruth.
Beatrice went on to become an active member of Greater Evangelistic Deliverance Church in Pineland, South Carolina, under the leadership of her daughter, Apostle Mary Ann Frazier. At church, she was lovingly known as Mother Graham. As the eldest member of the church family, she served as the Church Mother. Bee Graham loved the Lord and served Him with her whole heart on earth until her faithful, face-to-face meeting with her savior on Friday, May 31, 2024.
Bee married the love of her life, the late Henry Graham, on February 24, 1934. The ceremony took place in Gillisonville, South Carolina. From this marriage of more than 50 years, eight children were born – seven daughters and one son. Mary Ann Frazier, Martha Ford, Henrietta Clark, Ruthie Mae Rogers, Henry Graham, Jr. (Edwina “Red”) and Brenda Joyce Johnson (James) are Bee and Henry’s surviving children. Rosalie Harrington and Freddie Mae Gamble preceded her in death.
Beatrice Graham leaves a lasting legacy in her many grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren and more. Efforts to “count those many blessings” are ongoing.
Beatrice dedicated her life to taking care of her family. She was a stay-at-home mother to all of her children and many of her grandchildren. She was quick to share that her husband wanted her to stay at home with their children. And despite the many pressures of life outside the home, Bee said she and her children never wanted for anything.
Bee Graham had many hobbies. Quilting and fishing were quite possibly her favorite two. She was always ready to drop a line or cast a net at any available moment. Though she was not been able to do it as often as she would have liked in her latter years. Still, she always said when she did have the chance to fish, just looking at the water melted away every pain.
God honored his promise of long life to Momma Bee. She celebrated 105 years of life on August 29, 2023. Beatrice said what kept her all of those years was the endless love God had for her; the love she had for God; and her genuine love for all of God’s people. Even after death, her life serves as encouragement for everyone to put Jesus first, and then watch everything else fall into place.
In her loving words to all who read this obituary, “Times will get hard. But just know that God will never leave you or forsake you. Put all of your trust in Him, and He will see you through.”
In her life, she held fast to the lesson learned in the lyrics of one of her favorite childhood hymns. “How happy every child of Grace, who knows his sins forgiven! This earth he cries, is not my place, I seek my place in heaven.”
