Mother Jennie Kitty, 90, of Bluffton SC, entered in internal rest on Thursday, March 4, 2021, at Hilton Head Hospital. Services are entrusted to Allen Funeral Home of Ridgeland. We welcome you to provide your thoughts and memories on our Tribute Wall.
The Visitation will be held Friday, March 12, 2021, from 6 PM to 8 PM at First Zion Missionary Baptist Church Fellowship Hall. The funeral will be Saturday, March 13, 2021, at 1 O'Clock in the afternoon at First Zion Missionary Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Bethlehem Cemetery in Port Royal, SC.
A Time to be Born
Jennie Lavonia Williams Kitty born to the late Mrs. Thelma Williams and Jacob Williams.
A Time to Plant
The Vines of her life were rooted in Port Royal, SC where she grew up. She accepted Christ at the age of 12 in
1942 at the Bethlemhem Baptist Church in Port Royal. She graduated from Robert Smalls High School then
on to Penn Center in St. Helena, SC, for midwife nursing.
A Time to Love
As a young lady she moved to New York City. There she worked and was blessed with her oldest son Harold
Lee Williams Jr. After a time in New York, she moved back to SC where she met and married the Late Deacon
Renty Kitty Sr. (Busby) to that Union Robert Kitty, Brenda, Renty Sr., John, Jacob, and Harold Williams Marie
Jones Sam Pheonix Bryant Kitty, Renty III.
A Time to Serve
She was a midwife to 39 children. She retired after 27 years of employment with the state of South Carolina as
a Nurses Aide along with Mrs. Jane Pitts, Sarah Hooks, Dr. Donald Gatch.
Christian Duties
In 1952 she became a member at the Zion Baptist Church in Bluffton, SC under the leadership of Rev A.O
Mitchell. She served on the Usher Board, President of the Senior Choir, served as President of the Missionary
board. The work of the Missionary Ministry was her passion that she loved so well. Her motto was: If I can help
somebody as I travel along the way then my living shall not be in vain.
She organized homecoming week along with her dear sister in Christ the late sister Thelma Morrall.
She was the founder and President of the Women’s Ministry. She was a faithful and loyal servant of the auxiliary
boards at First Zion Missionary Baptist Church until she was called to rest from her labor.
