Ret. Lieutenant Colonel Peter Tallman Sr. Obituary

Ret. Lieutenant Colonel Peter W. Tallman, Sr passed away Tuesday, March 29, 2022, at Beaufort Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of  Mrs.Meltine Alleyne Tallman. Arrangements are entrusted to Allen Funeral Home. We welcome you to provide your thoughts and memories on our tribute wall.

(Retired) Lieutenant Colonel Dr. Peter W. Tallman, Sr., was born on June 19, 1942, in Danbury, Connecticut. One of fourteen children, he was born to Mr. Paul Benson Tallman, Sr. and Mrs. Pauline Elizabeth (Kearney) Tallman. Dr. Tallman attended New Hope Baptist Church in Danbury, under the leadership of Rev. Richard E. Boddie until he graduated from Danbury High School. While serving at New Hope Baptist Church, he trained as a Junior Youth Minister and Deacon.
His father owned and operated a painting and wallpaper business, and his mother was a loving homemaker. Proudly, Dr. Tallman and his siblings were raised in an encouraging, Christian environment. Dr. Tallman is quoted as saying, “I believe my parents were the greatest Christian parents a child could ever have, in all respects.” One thing that is quite unique about the family is that all fourteen children were bestowed with a name that begins with the letter “P”. Hence, all of them bear the initials P.T.
Between the ages of nine and eighteen, Dr. Tallman’s upbringing was also steeped in the Jewish faith. Dr. Tallman was fed both spiritually and physically through the graces of Mr. and Mrs. Frank and Ray Stark of Danbury. In addition, Mr. Stark trained him in accounting and business administration, as well as the art of cake decorating and French pastry production. Needless to say, these loving people greatly influenced his life.
In his late teens, Dr. Tallman joined the United States Marine Corp, achieving 31 years of faithful service to that honorable organization. From May 1962 to May 1993, he rose from the rank of Private to that of Lieutenant Colonel. This decorated serviceman received numerous military awards, medals and commendations.
Dr. Tallman often shared that his first memories of joining the United States Marine Corps included his having served as a Eucharistic minister in numerous Catholic Churches for six years. At that time, Dr. Tallman completed four years of Old and New Testament writings and manuscripts at Coastal Community College in North Carolina. To that end, his zeal for knowledge led him on an extensive educational journey. He obtained an Associate of Arts degree in Criminal Justice from that same institution. Continuing on, he received a Bachelor Degree in Business Administration from Stafford University, London, England, a Master Degree in Pastoral Counseling and Biblical Studies from Washington University, United Kingdom. He later received a Doctorate Degree of Divinity from the Carolina Theological Bible Institute in Bowman, South Carolina and became a member of the
institute’s Board of Directors. He also became a member of the Beaufort Carolina County Ministerial Alliance in South Carolina.
With the help and anointing of God, from 2004 to 2009, Dr. Tallman opened and pastored New Beginnings Coming of Age Christian Center, a non-denominational church. There, he and his congregation prayed and toiled in the vineyard to help save the souls of God’s people.
Dr. Tallman’s motto was: “Preaching the Gospel, the Living Word – changing lives!” His quest for winning souls for the Lord Jesus Christ and bringing all churches, pastors and leaders together on one accord (as is written in God’s Holy Bible) was his passion.
Dr. Tallman met his wife, the former Meltine Alleyne of Madagascar, while attending college. The two were joined together in Holy Matrimony on April 20, 2006.
Dr. Tallman had a radiobroadcasting program that aired at 11:00am on the first and third Sunday of the month on WVGB 1945FM in Beaufort, SC and in Jacksonville, NC on WICV/1290 AM every third Sunday of the month.
Dr. Tallman was the Director of Pre-paid Legal Services. He serves as the President, Sergeant-at-Arms and Vice President of Education of the Leadership and Public Speaking Toastmaster Club #2515 of Beaufort, South Carolina. He was a master baker who, in his spare time, loved to decorate wedding and special occasion cakes, as well as French pastries. His First Love was preaching and teaching the gospel of Jesus Christ and His love story, the Holy Bible. He was a member of the Grays Hill Full Gospel Deliverance Church.
On Tuesday, March 29, 2022 at 2:15pm at Beaufort Member Hospital, with his wife and son by his side Dr. Tallman transitioned from life to death. Preceding him in death were: his children: Paul E. Tallman, I, Paul E. Tallman, II, and Lea M. Tallman; sisters: Porttia Tallman, Priscilla Carrisquilla, Pauline Smith, Phoebe Grimes and Phyllis Tallman; brothers: Perry Tallman, Prentice Tallman, Patrick H. Tallman (twin brother), Paul B.
