It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of His Royal Majesty Alase Oba Adejuyigbe Adefunmi II, the revered leader of the Yoruba Nation of North America and Oyotunji Yoruba African Kingdom. Oba Adefunmi II is a father, husband, visionary, entrepreneur, dedicated educator and devoted community leader and partner.
Oba Adejuyigbe Adefunmi II departed this world on Monday, July 29, 2024 leaving a profound legacy marked by cultural enrichment, community development and an unwavering commitment to preserving Yoruba heritage in the diaspora.
Born into a distinguished lineage of Yoruba monarchs, Oba Adefunmi II ascended to the throne of Oyotunji African Kingdom on July 3, 2005. This pivotal moment was followed by a formal crowning ceremony in Ile-Ife, mirroring the path of his predecessor, and an extensive installation in Ophia Ketou, Republic of Benin.
Oba Adefunmi II is survived by his 7 children, 7 wives and numerous siblings, mothers and extended family.
