Ruby Mae Bradley was born on January 12, 1934 to John and Mary Bradley in Coosawhatchie, SC. She received her formal education in the Jasper County School System.
Ruby loved the Lord and accepted Him as her personal Savior at a very young age. She joined St. Paul Baptist Church in Coosawhatchie under the leadership of Rev Samuel Graham. She was a faithful member there until she relocated to New York where she pursued a career with both Simplicity Pattern and Plastic Design Company. During her time in New York, she was also a member of the United Palace Church where she worshipped and served under the direction of Reverend Dr. Frederick J. Eikenkoetter. Ruby located back to South Carolina and became one of the first black nurses to work at Ridgeland Hospital that was located in Ridgeland, SC.
Ruby had a beautiful spirit and spread love wherever she went. She loved spending time with her family and friends and they loved being around her, whenever they could catch her. Ruby loved to travel and had the privilege to visit Jerusalem twice.
She was wise in so many ways and she was always willing to help out in any way she could. She will be missed by many including her loving church family at Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Point South that is currently under the leadership of Pastor Harry James Frazier (Flossie). Ruby continued to trust in God for her every need by praying, reading, and meditating on scripture and demonstrating the characteristics of a Church Mother. She was named the Church Mother of Mt. Olive Baptist Church.
Ruby Mae Bradley departed June 24, 2023. Ruby was preceded in death by her granddaughter Demetria Fulton-Kirksey.
She leaves to cherish precious memories her daughter Verda Bradley, as a son Bro. Leo Gaston Jr.; granddaughter Valeria Fulton; grandson Sylvester King; great grand children Tierra Black, Royce Black, Tony O’Banner Jr., Princess Himissi Robertson, Jasmine Kirksey; great great grands Royalty Black and Donte Smith Jr.; nieces Carrie Frink, Barbara (Harry) Pinckney, Edith (James) Williams, Charles Smith, Alexander (Tiny) Smith, Anthony (Shawan) Smith; God daughter Rebie Patterson and God sons Richard White and Anthony King.
