Mr. Samuel John Colden, 69, Passed away on Saturday, August 08, 2020, at the home of his father Retired Sgt Major Ernest Colden in Ridgeland, SC. Visitation is Fri., Aug. 14, 2020, from 5 pm -7 pm, at Allen Funeral Home Complex in Ridgeland, SC. Funeral Service is Sat., Aug. 15, 2020, at 11 AM, also at Allen Funeral Home Complex in Ridgeland, SC. Allen Funeral Home of Ridgeland, SC is in charge.
Samuel John Colden was the fourth child of the late Martha Lee Colden. He was born March 10, 1951, at Jasper County Hospital. He was employed by a landscaping company on Hilton Head Island for several years but eventually started his own small landscaping business. His most recent employment was with Jasper County School District where he worked for 20 years but his true passion was working on vehicles and lawn equipment. He was a member of St. Phillip Baptist Church in Pocataligo Community, Yemassee South Carolina. He was elected president of the Usher Board. He also served as the 2nd Vice President of the Grahamville first voting precinct. He was preceded in death by two sisters Lucille Colden and Vivian Johnson, three brothers Ernest Colden Jr, Jerry Davis, and Frankie Colden. He leaves to cherish his memories are his parents SGT Major Ernest and Catherine Colden, one daughter Earnestine Ling, three granddaughters Ashley, RaSheen, and Christine; five great-grandchildren. A brother Herman (Elmetta) Witherspoon, and sister-in-law Lavetta Davis along with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
