Sandra Shaw Patty passed away at Friends of Caroline Hospice Care (Caroline’s Cottage) on February 20, 2024. She was born August 19, 1950, in Bentleyville PA, the daughter of Floyd and Virginia Phillips Shaw. She received an engineering degree from the University of Pittsburgh. She worked for West Penn Power Company for 10 years then accepted a position with the State of Maryland in Annapolis. Sandi retired after 25 years and relocated to Port Royal SC with her husband Carl. Sandi and Carl spent their retirement years learning about the history, ecology, and culture of their new home state. They travelled extensively and were known in the neighborhood for their unique parties and the great food that she prepared and shared. Sandi and Carl played golf at every opportunity and location. In addition to her parents, Sandi was predeceased by her husband Carl Patty and two brothers Alan Shaw and Larry Shaw. She is survived by a sister, Sharon Shaw Yacubovich (Peter) and her sister-in-law Mary Louise McTigue. Sandi leaves several nieces and nephews and extended family. Sandi was passionate about her rescued bull dog and her volunteer work with loggerhead turtle rescues. A service of remembrance will be held at the Beaufort National Cemetery on Tuesday, March 5, 2024 at noon. A reception will follow at Restaurant Marker 244, Port Royal Landing, from 1- 3 PM. The family suggests memorials be made to Harbor Island Sea Turtle Project, 162 Harbor Drive North, St. Helena Island, SC 29910.
