Shirley Jones,66, of the Low Bottom Community in Ridgeland, SC passed away Thursday, April 22, 2021, at her residence. Arrangements are entrusted to Allen Funeral Home of Ridgeland. We welcome you to provide your thoughts and memories on our tribute wall.
Missionary Shirley Nelson Jones was born on July 7, 1954 to the late Mr. Norman
and Corine Jenkins. Missionary Jones received her formal education in the Jasper County
Public School system, and graduated from Jasper County High School.
She was a member of St. Luke Baptist Church, where she served as a missionary. She
loved worshipping at St. Luke and being in the presence of the Lord. She was a cook for many
years at the old Oyster Factory. She had a great love for cooking and family gatherings. She
was well known and loved by many people and she enjoyed spending time with her children,
grandchild, and other family members.
On Thursday, April 22, 2021, Shirley reached out to the Lord and he welcomed her
into his arms, she passed peacefully with her family members at her side to comfort her.
She was Preceded in death by her daughter Rhonda Wendy Brown, her parents Norman and
Corine Jenkins, three brothers, five sisters, two grandsons: DeAnte Bolden and Caleb Brown.

(Rhona) Nelson, Corine (Jermaine Richard) Jenkins both of Ridgeland SC, Vonetta (Anthony)
Kelly and Taliah (Kyle) Jabar both of Beaufort SC, son-in-law Christopher Brown, one sister
Annette Nelson of Ridgeland SC, two brothers; Silas Nelson of New Jersey; Paul Nelson of
New York City, god daughter; Joann Fripp, sisters-in-law; Dr. Shirley Nelson, and Edith
Jenkins, Twenty-five grandchildren, special thanks to; Johnny Phoenix, Evangelist Mary Ann
Fyall, Durrell Heyward, Dominique Nelson, Harold Nelson, Rudy Simmons, David Anderson,
Elaine Strohbert and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends.
