Mr. Thomas Morgan Jr., 69, passed away at his resident on St. Helena Island, on Thursday, August 05, 2020. There will be no Public Viewing. Graveside Service will be Thursday, August 13, 2020, at Warsaw Cemetery, St. Helena, Is. Allen Funeral Home, of Ridgeland, SC is in charge.
Mr. Thomas Morgan Jr. son of the late Thomas Morgan Sr. and Ernestine Gardner Morgan was born October 10,1950 in Beaufort, South Carolina.
He received his education in the local public schools of Beaufort County and was a 1969 graduate of St. Helena High School. He was employed by Beaufort County as a school bus driver. He also attended Beaufort Technical College of the Lowcountry in Beaufort, SC.
Thomas was taught by his parents at an early age how to survive by working on the family farm on Eustis Plantation, Oaks Plantation, Warsaw Island, and Big Estate. He also worked at the Soul Palace.
He was employed with Beaufort County convenience Center for ten years and worked over 30 years at Tenneco/American Color and Chemical Operator in Lobeco, SC.
“DD” as we often called him was friendly, helpful, jokey, and love spending time with family and friends.
Thomas met and married his high school sweetheart the late Carrie Simmons. They were blessed with two sons Terrell D. Morgan and Thomas D. Morgan, III
Thomas was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church and was baptized under the leadership of the late Reverend A.J Flewellen.
He loved playing cards, attending family gatherings and sports. Watching the games with his sons was his favorite pass-time. He played baseball with the Mohawks baseball team under coach Nathaniel “Jackie” Blake and Willie “Junior” Holmes. He loved spending time on Warsaw Island at the barber Shop with family and friends. He adored his cat Puff who always greeted him at his steps.
On Thursday, August 6, 2020 at his home he was called from labor to rest.
He was preceded in death by his wife Carrie Simmons Morgan, his parents, Thomas and Ernestine Morgan, three brothers, Joseph “Frank” Coleman, John “Bosie” Gardner, Vincent “Vince” Morgan and three nephews Eric D. Gardner, Sr. Jamel Gardner and Sean Young.
Leaving to cherish his loving memories to two devoted sons, Terrell D. Thomas Morgan (Shanita), Thomas D. Morgan, III (Faranica), seven grandchildren, great-grands, three sisters; Geneva G. Rouse (Curtis), Brenda Morgan and Barbara Jean G Hunter (Happy). He also leaves behind three aunts Ophelia Major, Alice Atkins, and Rosa Lee Gardner, sister-in-laws; Helen Coleman, Ella R. Gardner, Dawn A. Major, Ida Gadson, Daisy Singleton, Lydia Simmons, Karen Caige, Mary H. Gardner, Patsy Simmons, brother-in-laws; Nathaniel Gadson, Joseph Simmons, Benjamin Simmons, Freddie Simmons, Solomon Singleton and Charles J Gardner, father in law Frank Simmons, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and numerous friends. To include his favorite brother in law, Benjamin Simmons Best friend James Greene and devoted friends James and Pamela Green, David Green, Ben Green, and George Coleman.
