It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother Vernell Scott on the 20th of July. She was 74 years old and leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and cherished memories.

Vernell was born in Beaufort, South Carolina to Hugh and Hattie Washington. She was a loving sister, mother, and friend to many. Throughout her life, she touched the hearts of those around her with her focus on improving the mind, body and spirit of every person she came in contact with.

She will forever be remembered for her devotion to God, her church and seeking justice for those who were unable to speak for themselves. Vernell was an exceptional lawyer, making a significant impact in the greater Beaufort community.

A celebration of life service will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, August 5th at the Allen Funeral Home on 1508 Duke Street, Beaufort, South Carolina where friends and family can gather to pay their respects and bid farewell to this remarkable woman.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in her name to the Kaleb House Child restoration facility (kalebhouse.org).

We are immensely grateful for the love and support shown during this difficult time.
