Walter Ray Gaskins, Jr. (SPIKE) born in Virginia, to the late Walter Ray Gaskins, Sr. and his Mother, Alice Gaskins. He began his life in Callao VA; Where he was introduced to the church and was baptized. He later relocated to North Carolina, where he attended school. In 1975 the family moved to Beaufort County, South Carolina and he continue his education at Battery High Walter took an interest in track and in playing football. After completing his education at Battery Creek High, in Beaufort, S.C.
He was employed at Parris Island, located on the military base in Beaufort, S.C. he did several jobs including, working in Landscaping designs, with Mother Earth Landscaping.
Walter departed this life on, June 11, 2023 at Beaufort Memorial Hospital, he suffered so much in silence, his spirit did not bend, and he faced his pain with courage until the very end. He tried so hard to stay with us and fought a good fight of faith, His living was not in vain. God saw that he was getting tired, a cure was not to be; so God whispered; come with Me and freed him from his pain.
Walter was preceded in death by his Father Walter Ray Gaskins Sr. ,
He leaves to cherish his memories, his loving Mother, Alice Gaskins, two brothers, Tyrone (Louise) Gaskins, of Westmoreland, Virginia, Pernell (Mary) Gaskins, of Port Royal, South Carolina, three sisters, Joyce Gaskins, of Charleston, South Carolina, Dalphine (Isaac) Fripp of Saint Helena Island, South Carolina, and Yolanda (Daryl) of Port Royal, South Carolina, and a very special niece, Shanequa Fripp, special friends, Solo, Roger Hewitt, and many nieces,nephews,cousins and a host of other relatives and friends.
