Wilbur Jerry Singleton

Wilbur Singleton, 66, of Beaufort, SC passed away at his residence on Tuesday, June 8th, 2021 in Beaufort, SC. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Allen Funeral Home of Beaufort. We welcome you to provide your thoughts and memories on our tribute wall.

Wilbur was born in Beaufort, SC April 1, 1955, at Beaufort Memorial Hospital to Frank and Virginia (Brown) Singleton. He graduated from Robert Smalls High School and joined the US Air Force. He served the United States Air Force from 1973 to 1978 including a two-year tour in London, England. He was honorably discharged from the Air Force on Oct. 16, 1978, in Grand Forks, North Dakota.
From here, he and his family moved to Denver, CO where he tried his hand at catering. From Denver, he and his family moved to Oklahoma City for several years. In the interim before returning home to Beaufort, SC. Wilbur and his family lived in Texas and he owned his own janitorial company. 
In 1989 Wilbur and his family returned to Beaufort, SC where he lived out the remainder of his days. When he returned home, he obtained the highest CDL license and was a supervisor for a local Hilton Head, SC mobile home company.  Wilbur enjoyed working with his hands, traveling, hunting and cooking. 
Wilbur was many things.  He was a father, amazing grandfather, loving brother, silly uncle and cousin. He was one of the best cooks known, but you had to be cautious because you never knew if you were eating something wild.  But most of all he was loved. SSGT. Wilbur Jerry Singleton is survived his children Stephanie Williams, Ieeia Currie (Elaric), Wilbur Singleton II (Ebony), Eric Singleton (Jocelyn), Michael Singleton, and Greg Singleton, his siblings Bernice Jenkins, Frank Singleton, Jr (Lenora), Alma Carr (Buford), Sarah Doe, Vivian Doe. Wilbur has survived 19 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
